October aggregated gross gaming revenues rise by 12.8% in Pennsylvania

The eastern American state of Pennsylvania reportedly saw its aggregated gross gaming revenues for October rise by 12.8% year-on-year to approximately $320.21 million despite the considerable impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a report from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review newspaper citing official figures from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the twelve land-based casinos in ‘The Keystone State’ saw their October aggregated gross gaming revenues from traditional slot and table games decline by about 16.1 % year-on-year to slightly over $218.06 million. This purportedly came after the venues were allowed to re-open from mid-June following an almost three-month shutdown instituted to help stop the spread of the potentially-lethal coronavirus ailment.

PT’s Owner Golden Entertainment Intends To Sell Slot Routes; To Concentrate On Bars, Casinos

On Monday, March 6, Golden Entertainment, owner of PT’s Taverns Chain and The Strat headquartered in Las Vegas, reported that it is selling its distributed gaming business to J&J Ventures Gaming, an Illinois-based company.

Distributed gaming includes slot machine routes where employees install, maintain and manage slots in taverns, bars, grocery stores, convenience stores and restaurants.

Purchase contract:

The company will receive $322.5 million plus $39 million in estimated purchase money from J&J Ventures Gaming based in Effingham, Illinois for its Nevada and Montana slot routes.

Rhode Island Governor Signs iGaming Bill Into Law

Yesterday, June 22nd, Gov. Dan McKee officially signed into law Senate Bill 948, which expands Bally’s land-based casino monopoly into iGaming. However, the governor decided to sign the legislation just hours before time ran out.

Approval of the House of Representatives and the Senate:

A vote was held last Thursday where members of the Rhode Island House of Representatives and the Senate officially voted to validate the state’s iGaming legislation into law, then sent it to the governor’s desk for him to decide whether to sign or veto, until June 23rd.
